I don’t think I have ever focused an entire post on my Sugar Block Club blocks so I thought it a good idea to do so.
Back in December I decided to use some of the
hoarded much loved fabric I have on hand instead of buying anything new. After a gander through my extensive stash I came across a FQ bundle of Hometown by Sweetwater. It is one of my many favorites. Instead of a white background I decided to use black and it has proven to be quite the dramatic touch. Here is my fabric selection laid out waiting for my first block:
Here are the individual blocks with the month in which they were stitched captioned under them:
Each month there is a recipe that goes along with the block pattern but I have only tried one of them as I have been on a diet and doing quite well I might add (I am not only at my goal weight but a bit under it).
The most challenging block was certainly February as it was a bit fussy to get the points to match up (of course they didn’t all match exactly in the end but close enough for me). But my favorite block so far is May. I realize there are some points that don’t match but that block seems to have shadows and just seems quite “wow”.
I am really loving this BOM and I may even make a sweet sometime soon seeming as how I am doing well with the weight loss. Since we are halfway through I think it is okay to look at the first six blocks all together:
I recently posted this pic on Instagram and stated I need to back off the red and some disagreed but I still thing I need to add a bit more of the yellow for balance reasons. and maybe a bit of the multicolor prints.
What do y’all think…more yellow & multi color prints or does it seem balanced already?
