Time to Pack….

….but not for a trip! Instead it’s time to pack up all the prizes (and a couple things I have sold).

FAL-2014-Button small/quilterinthegap

BUT FIRST….let me announce the winner of the Premature FAL Giveaway….

the winner is none other than….

Our very own (and well loved)….

Susan of CanadianAboard

No….just kidding…oddly she doesn’t want my hexies (she has about a million of her own) and didn’t even enter the giveaway!! I just had to give her a hard time…she is lovely though!!!

Ok…now to be serious for a minute. The real winner was picked by Mr. Random:

premature fal giveaway winner

Laura (Blue Giraffe Crafts) pinned our FAL button on Pinterst and also linked up (sorry, the linky party is now closed). Before today, I was not familiar with Laura’s blog but it is super cute. She is very talented with a crochet hook (something I might be a bit jealous of hehehe). If you get a chance I hope you will check her blog out and congratulate her.

I have sent you an email Laura (if you don’t hear from me, please email me by using that envelope on the top right hand corner) so that I can get your address.

Well….I have a living room to paint. It currently looks like this:

Living Room & access to basement
Living Room & access to basement

Well….kinda! There isn’t any carpet in there…that nasty stuff had to go. I will be installing carpet next month so I have to get busy. I have three more rooms to paint: the LR and 2 bedrooms. In case I forget to tell you this later….I HATE PAINTING!!!!!!

I hope y’all have a stitchy kinda day.

Premature FAL Giveaway

I was just linking up with 2014 Q1 FAL and thinking about various aspects of the FAL. There are so many different bits required to make it successful and Leanne and Katy have done and will continue to do a great job. I am so very blessed to have friends who are A.MA.Zing!!!

In an attempt to do my part, I want to do a little giveaway in order to accomplish a couple of things – 3 things actually:

  • increase the FAL’s Pinterest exposure
  • increase the FAL’s IG Exposure
  • and ensure y’all have linked up with Katy – the 2014 hostess!

So…you will have 3 possible entries into this giveaway. I would think they are obvious at this point but let me “make it plain” (a standing joke in our family)…

Entry #1 – You can find me on IG as gapquilter …. and recently I posted a pic of the 2014 FAL Button…repost this pic with the hashtag #FALgiveaway and you are entered (please no comment on the blog for this entry)

Entry #2 – You can find me on Pinterest as gapquilter. In my sidebar —-> you will find a “Pin It” button under the FAL button. Click that button, comment on that pin with hashtag #FALgiveaway (please no comment on the blog for this entry either)

Entry #3 – Leave a comment here if you linked up your FAL Q1 list (the FAL button will take you there)

I bet you are wondering what the prize is … huh?! Well, how about this:

#FALgiveaway|quilterinthegapThe book titled “Tula Pink’s City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks” by Tula Pink and a few hexies (and I am notorious for throwing in some fabric scraps…just sayin’). Some of the hexies are glued on the hexie paper and some are not. There are approximately a hundred hexies here. Some are fussy cut some are not. I have laid a few of them out so you can get a taste of what is there:

2014-01-12

EDITED to add: I will close the giveaway the same day the linky closes for the FAL – January 17th.

OK, now y’all know how to enter and what you could win….I only have one question….what ya waitin’ for….get to pinin’, postin’ and linkin’! Oh, and ….good luck y’all!!!

Takin’ Care of Business

If a stranger had been at my house the last two weeks they may call it the Insane Asylum……it has been pure craziness. First I went on vacation with Callee & her parents (more on that soon) then my mom and her boyfriend came for a visit. Those two events were back to back….barely time to change the guest bed sheets!!!!

While it has been crazy, it has also been GREAT FUN!!!!

But….all that fun left some unfinished business here on the blog. Can you believe I forgot to pick a winner for my latest giveaway….geez!! So, let’s get down to that!!!

Well…..this doesn’t happen very often….

daily tv giveaway winner

#1 is Amy of [Amy’s] Crafty Shenanigans.…yay!!! Amy was a bit undecided about her class selection – either String Piecing 7 ways or Learn to Crochet….I better email her!

Oh before I go, I wanted to remind you it is time to link up your 2013 Finish A Long Q3 finishes – I had 6 this quarter!!!!

2013 button

Probably won’t be quite that next quarter (I’ll tell you why very soon)!

Later, y’all I sure missed ya!!!!

Daily Craft TV **Giveaway**

Recently I received an email from the Online Media Coordinator of Fons & Porter. They recently launched a new website called Daily Craft TV. The website lists this as their description:

“Daily Craft TV is a community showing new craft ideas & projects with online webinar videos.

Expert instructors provide online craft classes in Quilting, Scrapbooking, Sewing, Crocheting, Knitting, & Paper Crafts.”

The email they sent offered me the chance to review one of the classes and then offer a class up to one of my wonderful followers. YAY….who doesn’t love a giveaway?

I chose to review the class “String Piecing 7 Ways“. The instructors of this video are Jodie Davis & Ashley Briggs.  I have been watching Jodie Davis in crafting and quilting videos for years. I really enjoyed watching her again.

I have a HUGE basket of scrap strips. I have them sorted by solids, prints and selvage. I chose this video because I needed some ideas about what to do with them. I have to say, I got a great amount of ideas. I’m not sure I learned new techniques but I did get some ideas. That is always nice.

Generally speaking, they have some impressive authors on their website:

I have to admit, some names I don’t recognize, others I do know!

In an attempt to be honest, I need to say this: there are a few things this website doesn’t have I wish they did. First, the ability to add bookmarks or take notes. Other than that, I really enjoyed this video and the website. Other videos I would like watch:

Well, all in all I think it is a website worth checking out and they are giving one of you just that chance.

This is a super easy giveaway. All you have to do enter is go to DailyCraftTV and pick out the class you would choose if you win, let me know which class that is in a comment here on my blog, DONE….you are entered!

Rules are as follows:

  • Open worldwide
  • One entry per household
  • No extra entries, simply leave a comment
  • Giveaway closes Friday the 13th at noon EST
  • Winner will be notified via email and posted on THIS post sometime Saturday the 14th

Have fun!

WhiteBoard Wednesday

It’s early in the month so it’s a clean WhiteBoard! A whole new list!

ww 7-3

I started quilting Amazing Grace last night and I am almost done! I should have that quilt done (assuming I don’t put the binding off) by the weekend!!

I also have all the stitches torn out of Large Dresden so that one is ready to quilt! As I said before, if I don’t need the slot of Cindy’s Project I will throw something else in there…time will tell. No biggie…the great thing about my WhiteBoard is flexibility!

While I have ya here, I need to announce the winner of the Tea Cozy.  I used Mr. Random to draw my winner and he chose #8 who is a dear friend:

tea cozy winner

At this moment she is off galavanting around the globe with her family so I will wait to hear from when she returns some time in August. If you don’t follow her blog, you really should check it out …. Mail From the Cheeky Monkeys!

Well! I have to run…time to get dressed! Ta Ta

Lettered Tea Cozy & Teabag Pouch #PatchworkPlease **GIVEAWAY**

Here we are at week 3 of the  Zakka Along 2.0 :: Patchwork Please. You can find details either in the link above or in theFlickr Group.

This week there are two projects: the Lettered Tea Cozy and the Tea Bag Pouch. I made the Lettered Tea Cozy even though I don’t use a ceramic teapot. Hopefully you will find that very pleasing at the end of this post (do you smell a giveaway?). It was quite straightforward to make, although I still find myself struggling with the author’s wording at times. I wonder if that is simply a culture thing? I have to say they aren’t so confusing that I feel I need clarification just enough to cause to me to pause & think (maybe this  is a good thing!! Hehehe). Regardless, I am enjoying myself!!!

The Tea Bag Pouch is ever so useful for me. I always have tea bags & equal in my purse. This pouch makes for a great place to keep them both. I will say that I wish the design had called for elastic instead of ribbon for the closure – ribbon doesn’t seem very sturdy. BUT again…its preference!!!

Here are my finished projects….

tea cozy 2

tea cozy

Well, how you would like to win my tea cozy? I did add some jumbo ric rac on the bottom instead of lace as I didn’t have any lace (and maybe it is hiding a sin or two)….

I am going to create several ways you can obtain entries to the this giveaway. The choices are yours. You can enter as many times as you want…

  1. Follow me in one of my button on the top right side of my blog or let me know you already do (7 options).
  2. Follow me on Instagram or share this giveaway on IG (be sure to flag @gapquilter).
  3. Be a new subscriber to my podcast on iTunes.
  4. Leave a new review in iTunes.
  5. Pin one of my pictures (be sure to flag @gapquilter).

There you have up to five different entries. If you made the tea cozy yourself and wish to win this one as a gift I am ok with that!  I will leave this giveaway open for 10 days…closing it on 6/30 at midnight EST! Open to all my followers – regardless of your location!

Have a great day y’all and good luck!!

Bad Blogger – Winner Selected!!

I have been a bad blogger this past week or two. I am so very sorry ya’ll but life has just gotten in the way. I know I say that a lot but unfortunately for me it is the truth a lot.

I don’t know those of you that post every day do it?! Would you please share your secret! Is it because I expect too much from my blog posts? I think that is it. I expect them to be long, witty and full of pictures – because I want to keep up with the Canadians Abroad and Flying Rockets….but I guess it is ok to be short and Gap-like!

So, let’s try that theory out….

I have selected a winner for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway…her name is Jordon and the prize is already in route. Here was her post….

Well, I have a ton of people coming to stay with me in just 2 short day so I have to clean….YUCK!!!! Let me tell you what I mean by a ton (6 extra adults and 6 extra kids for 6 days)……all sleeping, eating and pooping in my house…..maybe I should wait till they leave to clean….hmmmm!

Toodles for now!
